All The BBs
Tonight I went to a kids birthday party.
A friend of mine threw a gorgeous party in honor of her daughter who turned one. Gorgeous decorations that were created with hours upon hours of labor-intensive love.
It made me anxious if I'm honest.
All this work for a one-year-old who will never remember it. Suffice to say the pictures will be a memorable treat.
But it was quite nice to sit around and watch children from the ages of 4-8 run around enjoying themselves. They hired a party person to sing and dance with the kids and get them going. My husband and I remarked on how it takes a very confident and fun kind of person to do that sort of thing with children.
It was also nice to sit with my hubby and watch him watch the other children. He has a kind heart that shows a deep love for connecting with children and getting them to have fun.
It made my soul happy to see it.
I remember the first time I saw him in his element with young children. It was on our first trip together as a couple. We were in Bali, Indonesia.
We'd booked in to go rafting and the trip had started out a bit hairy. Everyone was on edge because one of my friends had gone off the rails when he didn't get what he wanted and threatened to fuck up the whole experience. We managed to get over it.
The rafting trip lasted 90 minutes and about halfway in the boat guide pulled over to a common stop with other boats so he could stretch his legs and have a cig. Some of the other passengers, including me hubs, decided to go for a swim.
There were two young Chinese kids who had also decided to go out for a dip. They were probably 6 and 7. The current was a little strong and could definitely carry them away if they weren't careful. There were no parents nearby and hubs took over.
"Careful guys. Hey, come over here. Let's play a game." He said it all with a friendly smile and had those kids in stitches before we were on our way again.
We were just dating at the time but I knew I wanted to marry this man and have all his babies!
